SC St. Tönis hosted Eintracht Frankfurt in a DFB Pokal clash on August 21, 2026. The home side aimed to cause an upset, while Frankfurt looked to assert their dominance in this cup encounter.
SC St. Tönis found themselves under significant pressure for much of the opening phase, as Eintracht Frankfurt controlled possession and probed for openings. Frankfurt's build-up play saw them advance into the opposition half frequently, evidenced by 92 passes in this zone compared to St. Tönis's 143 in their own half. Despite the territorial advantage, creating clear-cut chances proved challenging, with only one big chance created by Frankfurt.
The defensive structure of SC St. Tönis was tested, as they made 18 tackles, with 10 successful, and 36 clearances to disrupt Frankfurt's attacking momentum. While Frankfurt enjoyed more of the ball, their expected goals figure of 0.24 suggests that clear-cut opportunities were scarce. St. Tönis focused on disrupting play, leading to 10 free kicks conceded by Frankfurt.
Eintracht Frankfurt continued to dominate possession throughout the match, but their attacking efficiency was notably low. Despite 94 attacks launched, they registered zero shots on target and a mere one shot off target. Their expected goals figure remained modest at 0.24, indicating a lack of clinical finishing or perhaps effective defending from SC St. Tönis.
The visitors' passing game saw them distribute the ball 153 times successfully, with 92 passes reaching the opposition half. However, only 13 of these found their way into the final third, and their crossing game, with just 5 attempts and 1 successful cross, failed to unlock the St. Tönis defence. The home side's resilience, including 16 interceptions, kept the scoreline level.
Ultimately, despite controlling large spells of the game and creating more attacking situations, Eintracht Frankfurt could not find the breakthrough. The match statistics reflect a game where territorial advantage and possession did not translate into decisive offensive output, leaving SC St. Tönis to be satisfied with their defensive efforts.
