Seattle Sounders FC asserted their dominance in possession, dictating the tempo of the match for significant periods. Their build-up play often saw them progress the ball into the opposition half, attempting to unlock the Galaxy defense. With a higher number of attacks and passes into the final third, the Sounders created multiple promising situations, evidenced by their key passes and big chances generated. However, the Galaxy's defensive organization remained largely resolute, limiting clear-cut opportunities despite the sustained pressure.
The Sounders' strategy involved probing for openings, utilizing crosses and looking for combinations in advanced areas. Their statistics reflected a team striving to create, with a respectable expected goals tally suggesting they were getting into dangerous positions. Despite the territorial advantage and consistent attacking forays, converting these into decisive moments proved a challenge against a well-drilled LA Galaxy backline that worked diligently to stifle their progress and maintain parity.
